Module 1 – Airplane General Information – 1 hr
This module provides a basic overview of the aircraft, its dimensions and structural layout, including but not limited to:

  • Objectives
  • Reference Lines and Planes
  • Principal Dimensions and Areas
  • Body, Vertical Stabilizer, Horizontal Stabilizer, Wing, Rudder, Elevator, and Engine and Nacelle Stations
  • Service Interphone System

 
Module 2 – Electrical System – 2 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the electrical system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • External Power
  • Integrated Drive-Generators
  • AC Power
  • DC Power
  • Power Distribution

Module 3 – Fuel System – 2 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the fuel system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Fuel Tanks
  • Fuel Tank Vents
  • Fueling System
  • Fueling Troubleshooting
  • Engine Fuel Feed
  • APU Fuel Feed
  • Defueling
  • Fuel Quantity Indicating System

Module 4 – Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) – 2 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the auxiliary power unit – covering its components, their function, and APU operation, including but not limited to:

  • APU Installation
  • Gearbox and Accessories
  • APU Ignition/Starting System
  • APU Air Inlet Door and Actuator
  • APU Lubrication System
  • APU Fuel System
  • APU Pneumatic System
  • APU Indications

Module 5 – Pneumatic System - 1 hr
This module provides a basic overview of the pneumatic system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Engine Pneumatics Supply System
  • High Stage Pressure Regulating Valve
  • High Stage Controller
  • Bleed Control Source
  • Temperature Controls
  • Pressure Regulating and Shutoff Valve (PRSOV) & Controller
  • Air Supply Overtemp Limiting Sensor
  • Pressure Control
  • Reverse Flow Controllers
  • Pneumatic Distribution System

Module 6 – Environmental Control System - 4 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the environmental control system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Air Conditioning System
  • Environmental Control Supply
  • Flow Control
  • Water Separation
  • Ram Air System
  • Recirculation System
  • Primary (Zone) Temperature Control System
  • Cargo Compartment Heating System
  • Supplemental Heating System

Module 7 – Hydraulic System - 3 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the hydraulic system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Hydraulic Reservoirs
  • Reservoir Pressurization Systems
  • Heat Exchanger
  • Left and Right Hydraulic Systems
  • Engine Driven Pump
  • Alternating Current Motor Pump

Module 8 – Water System - 1 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the water system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Water and Waste
  • Potable Water System

  • Toilet System

Module 9 – Landing Gear – 4 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the landing gear – covering its components, their function, and landing gear operation, including but not limited to:

  • Main Landing Gear
  • Nose Landing Gear
  • Landing Gear Door Ground Operation
  • Alternate Extend System
  • Nosewheel Steering System
  • Proximity Switch System
  • Wheels and Brakes
  • Antiskid / Autobrake System

Module 10 – Flight Controls – 4 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the flight controls – covering its components, their function, and flight control operation, including but not limited to:

  • Aileron System
  • Spoilers
  • High-Lift System
  • Trailing Edge Flaps
  • Lead Edge Slat System
  • Horizontal Stabilizer Trim System
  • Elevator Control System
  • Rudder System

Module 11 – Ice and Rain Protection – 1 hr
This module provides a basic overview of the ice and rain protection system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Wing Anti-Ice
  • Engine Nacelle Anti-Ice
  • Probe Anti-Ice
  • Water Vapor Sensing System
  • Window Heat Control
  • Windshield Wiper System
  • Waste System Heaters

Module 12 – Fire Protection – 2 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the fire protection system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Fire Detection
  • Fire Extinguishing
  • Engine & APU Fire/Overheat Detection
  • Powerplant Fire Detection System
  • Main Cargo Fire Detection System
  • Main Cargo Air Sampling System
  • Fire Extinguishing System
  • APU Fire Detection System

  • Pneumatic Duct Leak Detection

Module 13 – Pratt & Whitney PW2040 Engine - 5 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the Pratt & Whitney PW2040 engine – covering its components, their function, and engine operation, including but not limited to:

  • Powerplant Specification & Limitations
  • Engine Cowls
  • Fan Cowls
  • Hazard Areas
  • Oil System
  • Engine Indicating Systems
  • Air System
  • Engine Fuel System
  • Starting & Ignition
  • Fan Exhaust & Thrust Reverser System

Module 14 – Oxygen System – 1 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the oxygen system – covering its components, their function, and system operation, including but not limited to:

  • Flight Crew Oxygen System
  • Passenger Oxygen System
  • Portable Oxygen Equipment

Module 15 – Doors - 2 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the aircraft doors – covering its components, their function, and door operation, including but not limited to:

  • Crew Entry Door & Mechanism
  • Sliding Door
  • Lower Lobe Cargo Doors & Mechanisms
  • Main Deck Cargo Door & Mechanism
  • Hinge Drive System
  • Door Sensors
  • Door Warnings & Indications
  • Manuel Operation

Module 16 – Rolls Royce RB211 Engine - 5 hrs
This module provides a basic overview of the Rolls Royce RB211 engine – covering its components, their function, and engine operation, including but not limited to:

  • Cowlings & Arrangement
  • Engine Indications
  • Engine Controls
  • Engine Fuel System
  • Engine Oil System
  • Engine Bleed Air System
  • Thrust Reversers & Operation

 

DETAILS:

The course follows the ATA Spec 104 guidelines for a Level 1 Gen Fam course, and takes 40 contact hours over 5 days.
