Safety, fiber optic theory & link budgets, testing overview & preparing fiber optic cable for assembly

Connectorization Laboratory Exercise - 2 hours

Connectors - 3 hours
Scribe and polish connectors, power meter and light source operation, test newly installed connectors & review of connectors in use today

Splicing - 4 hours
Splicing theory, splicing laboratory exercise - fusion splice & mechanical splice - and advanced fiber optic concepts in use today

OTDR Theory & Laboratory Exercise - 2 hours

Installation & System Cabling Overview - 1 hour

Exam - 1 hour

 

DETAILS:

The 16-hour course covers transmission theory, connectorization, splicing, optical link budgets, tests and measurements using power meters and the Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), and installation.

Laboratory activities encompass cable construction, mechanical and fusion splicing and test and measurements.
